This stretch of the river is particularly scenic and the size and character of the river resembles a highland river. The upper beats begin fishing in March and will produce springers provided the water conditions are favourable for running fish. The best months are April to June and there can be few greater pleasures than fishing the floating line and small fly for multi sea winter fish. It is a special place. Sea trout and grilse arrive from May and with good water levels, salmon and grilse will be landed with long tailed lice still attached. Good water flows will continue to provide excellent sport right through to the end of the season on the upper river, which closes September 30th.
