I visited a local school this morning with our biologist Adrian to present awards to some pupils following a recent "Paint the Dee" competition.I spoke to the children about the competition and my colleague Adrian did an ad-hoc chat about the river and it's inhabitants. I then asked the assembled school children if they wanted to come fishing at a local fishery as guests of the River Dee Board and Trust. The cheers were deafening and the response was clearly in the affirmative. It's moments like these that are really so special.
Here is a picture of the three "winners" from a local school, who submitted the winning entries in the recent "Paint the Dee" competition. The winners received prizes and the schools children will have a day on a local fishery where they will learn about all the insect life and how the food chain works as well as tying flies and then participating with fishing for trout. We hope the children have a super day out and enjoy the experience so much that they will take an even keener interest in the local environment and wildlife.Well done to all concerned.
