Ballogie Anglers’ support tops £30,000 to the River Dee Trust

August 20, 2020

Generous anglers at Ballogie have donated more than £1,500 in 2019 to help support the work of the Trust and to care for the River.

Ballogie Estate ha run a donation scheme covering the fishing beats Ballogie, Carlogie and Commonty since 2006. Anglers have been asked if they can support the work of the Trust through a £10 donation on every rod per week.

The total now donated over the past 13 years is a staggering £32,354.

Malcolm Nicol, managing partner of Ballogie Estate, said “We are so pleased that visiting and local anglers alike are keen to support the river, which is an asset to the whole community and an important part of the local economy”.

River Director, Lorraine Hawkins is delighted by this long-standing support to the Trust - “We really appreciate the contribution that the Ballogie Anglers provide each year as it makes a real difference to the Trust’s operations. We will shortly be releasing our Fisheries Management Plan which we hope will excite anglers with the work that we are preparing to do to look after and rebuild fish stocks over the next 5 years”.

Fortunately, much of the habitat restoration work planned for 2020 has been able to continue. The Trust and Fishery Board are preparing to increase this over the next few years and support is vital, from the fishing community and beyond.
