Clerk to the Board

Lawrence is a Chartered accountant who spent his career in private equity in Aberdeen (firstly with 3i and latterly with Lime Rock Partners) investing primarily in the energy industry. He owns the Lower Blackhall & Kinneskie and Invery beats on the Dee.

Will Boyd-Wallis


Will is the Senior Land Management Officer for the CNPA.  By representing CNPA on the Dee Fishery Board he hopes to provide a useful point of contact for riparian owners to ensure good dialogue over future issues of importance to the Dee.  He came to the Cairngorms after ten years of working across the Highlands and Islands for the John Muir Trust.  Firstly as Conservation Manager for Sandwood Estate and latterly as JMT’s Policy and Partnerships Manager.

Edward Humphrey


Edward is the Chairman of the DSFIA and Director of FishDee Limited since 2003. He is the proprietor of Dinnet and manager of Aboyne Castle beats, and is a keen angler. Edward is a very active person with the river board team and has provided invaluable support and encouragement where he can which is widely acknowleged and appreciated.

William Foster


William is a Chartered Surveyor who works in commercial property investment and also manages the Park beat on the River Dee. He is a keen fisher and supporter of Scottish country sports. He is also a member of the Dee Salmon Fishing Improvement Association.

Gavin Clark

Scottish Natural Heritage representative

Gavin Clark is the representative for Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). SNH is a non-departmental public body and the government's advisor on nature conservation matters. The River Dee's status as a Special Area of Conservation under the Habitats Directive, with salmon, otter and freshwater pearl mussel all being recognised features, means that the Board has a key role in promoting sound management and SNH is pleased to be represented. Gavin is an Operations Manager with SNH's Tayside & Grampian Area.

Scott Rutherford

Smolt Tracking Report Shows Interesting Results

October 11, 2016

The smolt tagging and tracking project is a three year programme of work. Fifty smolts, captured in the lower catchment, were fitted with internal acoustic tags and tracked in spring 2016. These smolts were tracked as they migrated through the lower 22 miles of the Dee and inner harbour.
